3. Who we share it with
We share your data only with the service providers we need to run the shop, and only what each of them needs for their task. They fall into these groups:
- Shop platform and hosting — runs our website and stores order data
- Payment providers — process your payment; we never see your full card details
- Print and fulfilment partners — print and ship physical books; they receive your name and delivery address
- Digital delivery partners — deliver ebooks and audiobooks; they receive your name and email address
- Shipping carriers — deliver your parcel
- Email service providers — send our newsletter, if you have signed up
- Advertising and analytics services — only if you accept the relevant cookies
- Accountants, tax authorities and other public bodies — where the law requires it
These providers process your data on our behalf and under our instructions, or, where they act as independent controllers (for example payment providers), under their own privacy policies. We choose providers that protect your data in line with the GDPR.
Some providers are based outside the European Union. Where your data is transferred outside the EU, we rely on an adequacy decision of the European Commission (for example for the United Kingdom, or for US companies certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework) or on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
You can ask us at any time for the current list of providers we use.
We never sell your personal data.
4. How long we keep it
- Order and invoice records: 7 years, as Austrian tax law requires (§ 132 BAO), longer if a tax or legal proceeding is open
- Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe
- Emails with us: up to 2 years after the matter is closed, unless they're part of an order record
- Cookies: as described in the cookie banner
5. Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your data
- correct it
- delete it (unless we have to keep it by law)
- restrict or object to how we use it
- send it to you or another provider in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time — this doesn't affect anything done before
Email books@maxinehenri.com. We'll reply within one month.
You can also complain to the supervisory authority: Austrian Data Protection Authority (Österreichische Datenschutzbehörde), Barichgasse 40–42, 1030 Vienna, www.dsb.gv.at — or to the data protection authority in your own country.
6. Cookies
Essential cookies keep the shop and your basket working. Analytics and marketing cookies are only set if you accept them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time via the link at the bottom of every page.
7. Children
Our books are written for adults. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
